From Captain Marcus

Sunday mornings have a rhythm of their own. The coffee’s slower. The conversations wander. Nobody’s checking a watch, and if they are, they’re doing it wrong.

That’s the mood Captain Marcus had in mind when he built this one. Not a quick fix for a rough night — a proper brunch companion. The kind of drink that sits with you while the stories get longer and the table doesn’t turn over for another hour.

He made it bold. Then he made it bolder. Somewhere between the second and third test batch, it stopped being a recipe and started being a reputation. Regulars don’t order “a Bloody Mary” anymore. They ask for the Captain’s.

The Build

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 4 oz tomato juice
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • Worcestershire, hot sauce
  • Tajín rim

Simple on paper. Sharp in the glass.

The Captain’s Twist

This is where it earns the name. A Tajín rim for the citrusy heat, a dusting of smoked paprika for depth, and a pickled garnish skewer that turns the glass into its own appetizer plate. It’s a drink you sip and snack on at the same time — which, if you ask Marcus, is the whole point of Sunday.

The Soundtrack

Every good brunch drink needs the right frequency in the background. Marcus pairs this one with Michael McDonald’s “I Keep Forgettin” Mood:a little smoky, and exactly the tempo for a morning that isn’t going anywhere fast.

Come linger a little longer. The Captain’s expecting you.
